How to Use a Free Serif Font on a Resume
Stick to one or two typefaces total. A serif for the name and headers with a plain sans-serif or a second, quieter serif for the body copy is usually enough.
Keep body text between 10.5 and 11.5 points for most of these fonts, and size names or headers no larger than 18 to 22 points so the hierarchy stays subtle rather than shouty.
Avoid display-only faces like Cormorant, Prata, Vidaloka, or Bodoni Moda for anything beyond a name or section title; their thin strokes and high contrast blur when applicant tracking systems or printers render them small.
Always export the final resume as a PDF with the font embedded, since not every device or ATS parser will have the Google Font installed locally.
Whichever serif is chosen, consistency matters more than novelty: a single well-set typeface used with care will always read as more professional than several competing styles crowded onto one page.
