The first thing you notice about Present is how much restraint it shows. A near-black charcoal background carries the entire hero section, and against it a crisp white iPad mockup floats with a warm, softly lit product photo inside the screen.

That single visual choice, dark canvas plus one bright hero image, does a lot of work. It gives the template a modern, editorial feel rather than a busy startup-landing-page look, and it puts all the visual weight on whatever image you drop into that device frame.

The typography reinforces that same quiet confidence. The headline “Create Beautiful Websites w/ Our Free Templates” is set in a clean, generously sized sans-serif with plenty of line height, sitting above muted gray body copy that never competes for attention.

Two call-to-action buttons anchor the hero: a solid coral-red “Download for Free” button and an outlined “Visit ProBootstrap” button beside it. That red accent is really the only color note in an otherwise monochrome layout, which makes it an obvious spot to swap in your own brand color if red doesn’t fit your project.

Scroll past the hero and the template shifts to a slightly lighter charcoal panel for the “Be Creative” section, a centered block of heading, supporting text, and another red CTA button. This kind of alternating dark-on-darker sectioning is a simple but effective way to break a long page into visual chunks without introducing new colors or textures.

Where This Layout Works Best

Because the whole design leans on one strong hero image inside a device mockup, Present is a natural fit for anything product- or portfolio-driven: app landing pages, software or SaaS pitches, agency homepages, or a personal site built around your own work photography.

The multipurpose structure, with home, services, about, and contact pages, means it can also carry a small business or freelance site end to end without needing extra pages built from scratch.

Given the dark palette and minimal ornamentation, it reads especially well for creative studios, photographers, tech products, and consultants who want a template that feels premium and modern rather than templated.

If your project leans bright, playful, or content-heavy with lots of text blocks and imagery, you’ll want to budget time for adapting the color scheme, since the whole layout is built around that dark background carrying light text.

Making It Your Own

The easiest first edit is the hero image inside the iPad frame. Swap in a screenshot of your actual app, a product photo, or a portfolio piece, keeping the same portrait orientation so it sits cleanly inside the device outline.

From there, the red buttons are the next logical target. Because red is the only saturated color in the whole design, changing it to your brand’s accent color will instantly make the template feel custom rather than off-the-shelf.

The dark charcoal background can stay as-is for a moody, premium feel, or you can lighten it if your brand leans toward a brighter, airier aesthetic. Just make sure body text contrast stays legible if you go that route.

Since the layout depends on generous white space and short, confident headlines, resist the urge to cram in extra paragraphs or multiple competing CTAs per section. Keep one clear message and one button per block, the way the original hero and “Be Creative” section do.

When it comes to pairing elements, stick to a single accent color, one clean sans-serif for headings and body text, and simple line-style icons if you add a services or feature grid, so the added content matches the understated, image-led character the template already has.
