64 Best Free Minimalist Fonts for Resumes

A resume has one job: get read quickly and taken seriously. That means the typeface matters as much as the wording, and the safest choices are almost always understated, well-spaced, and built for screens as well as print. The best free minimalist fonts for resumes tend to share a few traits: generous letterforms, consistent stroke widths, and enough personality to feel considered without ever distracting from the content itself. Every option here is free on Google Fonts, easy to pair with the rest of an application packet, and friendly to applicant tracking systems, which matter more than most job seekers realize.

Whether the goal is a clean corporate one-pager, a design portfolio cover sheet, or a technical CV dense with bullet points, there is a genuinely minimalist Google Fonts option below suited to the job.

  1. Inter

    Results-driven professional seeking new opportunities

    Inter

Inter was designed specifically for user interfaces, and that heritage shows in how evenly it reads at small sizes on a screen. It has become something of a default choice for tech resumes because it is legible, neutral, and never showy.

Pair it with itself across weights; the family is large enough to build an entire resume hierarchy without introducing a second typeface.

How to Use Minimalist Fonts on a Resume

Stick to one, or at most two, type families for the entire document. A sans serif for headers and a serif for body text, or the reverse, is usually enough variation.

Keep body text between 10 and 12 points and let weight, not size, create hierarchy. A bold or semibold cut of the same font for job titles reads cleaner than switching typefaces.

Always export the final resume as a PDF with fonts embedded, since applicant tracking systems and hiring managers may open it on a machine that does not have the Google Font installed.

Test the layout at actual print size before sending it anywhere. Some of the lighter, more elegant weights on this list can thin out on a laser printer even though they look crisp on a laptop screen.

Free does not mean generic. Any of the families above can be downloaded directly from Google Fonts and licensed for commercial use, including something as personal as a job application, at no cost.
