A minimalist landing page with a modern design, created by Duc Nguyen.
The template uses 4 typefaces: Playfair Display (free), Abril Fatface (free), Edo SZ (free) and AktivGrotesk, not included with the download.
What stands out first about the Dese landing page is the confidence of its typography. The italicized serif headline, “Hanoi Designers Meetup,” sits in Playfair Display with an underline swipe of orange beneath it, giving the whole hero section an editorial feel closer to a print magazine spread than a typical event website.
That serif and orange combination carries through the entire layout, from the small “Register now” link to the ticket-price callout box lower in the hero image. It reads warm and human rather than corporate, which fits its subject matter well.
The hero photograph itself does a lot of work here. A lone figure in a bright orange jacket walks down a snow-covered road, and that single spot of color is echoed deliberately in the “Get Early Bird Ticket” box and the underline accents elsewhere on the page.
It is a small but effective trick: pull one color out of your photography and repeat it in your UI elements so the whole page feels considered rather than assembled from stock parts.
Below the hero, oversized outline type spelling “ENJOY YOUR LIFE” bleeds behind a smaller, grounded headline, “Hey! We host all events near you!” This layering of huge ghost type behind body copy is a popular device in modern web design because it adds depth and visual interest without competing for attention with the actual message.
Where This Template Works Best
This layout is built specifically for event and meetup promotion. The date and time strip, the audio waveform player, and the ticket callout all point toward conference sites, design meetups, workshops, festivals, or community gatherings.
It would suit a design studio hosting a talk series, a creative agency promoting a conference, or a community organizer building a one-page site for a recurring meetup format.
The minimalist, editorial tone also makes it adaptable to portfolio-style event recaps, photography exhibitions, or travel-related gatherings, anywhere a striking photograph and a confident headline need to carry the page.
The audio player bar beneath the hero image is a nice unexpected touch. It suggests this template could double as a landing page for a podcast episode announcement or an audio-driven event, not just a visual one.
Working With the Typography and Layout
Because the design leans so heavily on font pairing, swapping in your own headline should be done carefully.
Keep the italic serif treatment for the main headline if you want to preserve that editorial character, and reserve Edo SZ or the sans-serif for smaller navigation and labels the way the original does.
Since Aktiv Grotesk is not bundled with the download, you will need to source it separately or substitute a similar grotesque sans like Inter, Neue Haas, or Helvetica Now to keep the body text feeling consistent with the display fonts.
When replacing the hero photo, look for images with a strong single-subject focal point and room for text overlay, similar to the wide, empty snowy road here.
A photo with too much visual noise will compete with the “coming up” label and headline text sitting on top of it.
Pull whatever accent color is present in your replacement photo and apply it consistently to underlines, buttons, and callout boxes, the same way the orange jacket informs the accent color throughout this page.
The right-hand vertical navigation with scroll arrows and dash indicators is a subtle detail worth preserving if you build out multiple sections, since it signals to visitors that the page continues below the fold.
Pair this landing page with a simple event registration form, a gallery section for past meetups, or a speaker/lineup grid to extend it into a fuller site without losing the restrained, photography-led mood it opens with.
